Qualifications and experience

My work as a Counsellor started in 1989 when I began counselling in a voluntary capacity. Soon after this I started to develop my Private Practice and in 1995 began working in the NHS as a Counsellor in Primary Care. The role in Primary Care continued until 2012 when my employment changed to working within IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies).

At the end of 2013 I left IAPT to concentrate more on Private Practice.

I gained my Diploma in Professional Counselling in 1992 and was registered with the United Kingdom Register of Counsellors in 1998. At that time I was also accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psythotherapy.

In 2001 I was awarded a Diploma in Psychodynamic Studies and I received a Certificate in Life Coaching in 2005.

For the last nineteen years I have been Senior Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

My main and core training is psychodynamic and psychoanalytic. With the benefit of further trainings and an increase in experience I have come to adapt and use the richness of other theories when these are appropriate and helpful for a particular individual.

I am committed to continuing professional development and training. My aim is to keep learning so that I am able to continue developing the most effective way of offering therapy. In my experience one if the best ways of learning is from other people and this happens as I meet different and inspiring people in the course of my work.
